The 25-year-old from Bangkok has a bachelor's degree in international business management and a master's in marketing. She works to promote safe-sex practicesfor teens in Thailand. She's also passionate about the environment and strives to educate people on the importance of protecting it.
Kára McCullough is Miss USA.
The 26-year-old from Washington D.C. works as a scientist for the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Having earned her bachelor's degree in chemistry, with a concentration in radiochemistry, McCullough works to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) programs for kids. She started a community outreach program called "Science Exploration for Kids."
Miss USA did cause some controversy when she called herself an "equalist" instead of a "feminist" at the Miss USA Pageant.
She told INSIDER that she didn't take back her words and elaborated on her idea.
"The word feminism means different things to different generations, different groups of people, gender, I mean, it's different across every aspect of life," she said. "That is why I just wanted to classify and just change the word to equalist. Using the word equalism."
Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is Miss South Africa.
The 22-year-old earned a degree in business management and developed a program, called Unbreakable, to help train women in self-defense. She was inspired by a personal experience shortly after being crowned Miss South Africa where she was held at gunpoint and robbed.
Olivia Rogers is Miss Australia.
The 25-year-old from Adelaide is a pediatric speech pathologist and is a spokesperson for mental health. She also sells her own illustrations and and paintings. She wants to incorporate her two passions into creating resources for speech pathologists to use.
Rachel Peters is Miss Philippines.
The 26-year-old works in the events industry. She's also a big surfer and loves coffee, so she opened her own cafe on the island of Siargao. She has a degree in business.
Christina Peiris is Miss Sri Lanka.
Peiris got a fashion degree and created a humanitarian clothing brand which donates a percentage to cancer patients in her home country all by the age of 23. She lost her mother to cancer when she was 13, as well as her grandmother and grandfather.
Keysi Sayago is Miss Venezuela.
The 24-year-old from Caracas had a passion for mechanical equipment which led her to earn her degree in mechanical engineering. She works with organizations in her home country that provide food and shelter to those in need.
Denisse Franco is Miss Mexico.
The 19-year-old recently graduated from high school and is going to medical school to become a gynecologist. She also works with Smile Train, an organization that provides free cleft and lip palate surgery to children around the globe.
Danna Hernández is Miss Puerto Rico.
From San Juan, the 21-year-old is pursuing a degree in public relations. She's also incredibly active with a school initiative she started that promotes health and emotional well-being for children. Since the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria this summer, she has helped with recovery efforts as a member of the Red Cross and has worked with the United for Puerto Rico foundation to help deliver supplies to victims in need.
Alicia Aylies is Miss France.
The 19-year-old was studying law before becoming Miss France. She has won multiple fencing titles and mentors athletes interested in fencing.
Loan Nguyen is Miss Vietnam.
The 24-year-old has been independent since the age of 14, when she left her rural village and joined the army. She's worked a series of odd jobs since then, but now is involved in various philanthropic ventures, including building a school for children in the mountains as well as pools to teach drowning prevention programs.
Lauren Howe is Miss Canada.
The 24-year-old from Toronto worked as a sports broadcaster with the Toronto Maple Leafs while earning her degree in industrial engineering. She advocates for women in STEM fields and already started her own company.
Monalysa Alcântara is Miss Brazil.
The 18-year-old is studying business administration and fashion. She advocates for racial and gender equality and created an organization that advocates for self-acceptance and self-love.
Prissila Howard is Miss Peru.
The 26-year-old started her own business called Crece 360, which seeks to empower people to follow their dreams and achieve their goals. She also advocates for women's rights.
Berenice Quezada is Miss Nicaragua.
The 24-year-old works with the organization Nueva Vida, which seeks to empower women and help them become entrepreneurs.
Cassandra Chery is Miss Haiti.
The 22-year-old is a model and dancer but is also hoping to pursue a career in nursing and wants to advocate for cancer patients in her country. She is an environmentalist and has helped victims that have been affected by the hurricanes and earthquakes that have ravaged the country.
